Where R We Now?The race began at 7:10 a.m.. The team reach Plum Park, 6 hours & 4 minutes later at 1:14 p.m. Forty two and a half miles down, fifty three and a half more to go. You see, this is not actually a 100 mile race, more sort-of-like 100 miles. When the sun is out, the thermometer hit 101 degrees (honest, the support team brought one) and in the shade, 98 degrees. The river flow is about 5,400 cps.
Cait & Tony wisely took about 30 minutes off in the air conditioning of the rented RV and chowed down on some sensible food. Like last year, pasta and rice dishes from Central Market hit the spot.
The support team make a leisure change out, replacing water, electrolites, gu packs, power bars and ice. Ice wet cloths on the back of the necks are well appreciated by Cait & Tony. The team refresh their sun block and shoved off at 1:52. Their next stop will be at La Grange, 18.5 miles down river. The support crew will head to the nearest Wal-Mart to load up on ice and pain killers.
