Where R We Now?

Smithville: the first stop

The race began at 7:10 a.m.. The team reach Smithville, 3 hours & 23 minutes later at 11:33 a.m. A definite record for them. The river is flowing about 5,387 cps and the weather is 81 degrees with 98 percent humidity. Twenty-five miles down, seventy two more to go. Tony's wife Shelly, daughter Jessica, son Christopher and his wife Courtney arrive in time to help with the change over and to provide hugs for Tony. Of course, David hugs Cait. The support team make a quick change out, replacing water, electrolites, gu packs, power bars and ice. Did I mention ice? The race team shoves off at 10:38. Their next stop will be at Plum Park, 17.5 miles down river. At the pace Cait & Tony are paddling the support team will be short on time between stops. No naps today!

More pictures will be uploaded later since we had three cameras clicking. The initial pictures are from Cait's camera, manned alternately between David, Deanna and Shelly. Jessica and Chris will provide pictures later and we will remix what we are showing.
