Kayak Racing Team

Tony challenged Cait to take up kayaking. Cait challenged Tony to race kayaks. Was it a match made in Heaven, or Hell? They began by racing singles in a short 12 mile challenge. Their goal, to finish. Then they took the jump to the Colorado River 100 mile race in 2006. Their goal, to finish. Including rest stops, it took them 22 hours and 51 minutes that year. Without rest stops, they paddled for over 19 hours. They came back for another run down the river this year. Their goal, to finish -- faster than the last time. They are really racing themselves. All the other paddlers on the river are just backdrop. They are here for fun.

Follow their progress with postings at each stop along the way. The links will become hot as they reach each spot. In the meantime, here is a You Tube clip on one of their practices. Cait has dubbed herself "The Accidental Athlete."

Well, that was the plan. As it turned out Cait & Tony were "moving" along fast and the support team just could not keep up "and" download pictures "and" upload progress reports in a timely fashion. After all, the race team came first. So, let me apologize to everyone that wondered, did they make it? Yes, as you will see, and in record time and great spirit.
