1822: To TX with brothers & sister from Georgia (1820, but Mississippi in 1821). Lived together on Vince's bayou <Harris>

1824: July 21: received league of land straddling Vince's Bayou. Witnessed by John & Richard Vince.

1826, Feb. Billed SFA for beef, corn & servant labor. <NHBTx: 6-754>
Census of 1826. Single, 25-40 yrs of age. Sister Susan keeping house. <NHBTx: 6-754>

1832, November 16: Robert Vince granted only 1/2 league. Harris County. 8 miles above Houston. <HCDR: L-39> <GLO-44>

1833, May: The Vince brothers, Allen, William, Robert and Richard lived at the bridge on Vince's Bayou. Allen vince was a widower. He had two sons. Their sister, Miss Susan, kept house for them. <Harris-5>

1834, Sept. 7: executed a will, which, among other things, gave slave Sally Vince her freedom upon his death. <NHBTx:6-754>

1836, April. Mexican Armies and Texian Army crossed Vince's Bridge adjacent to William Vince's log cabin. General Sam Houston ordered Deaf Smith to destroy the bridge on April 21 just before the battle began. Mexican General Santa Anna fled from the battlefield on Allen Vince's horse but could not cross rain swollen Vince's bayou since the bridge was destroyed. Santa Anna was captured the next day, thus ending the war.

In summer of 1836 Batterson rebuilt Vince's bridge (now #2) at the Republic's expense for its destruction during the war. See August claim and <Roll 6, p. 247, Republic Claims> received Sept. 12 < Roll 6, p. 246, Republic Claims>

1837 Feb. 28: Estate of Wm. Vince filed for probate. Allen Vince appointed. Administrator. Richard Vince to help with appraisal. (HCPR: A-10>

1837: Sally filed suit against Allen under the will. William dead. Sally won her freedom by jury verdict Jan. 7,1839. <NHBTx:6-754>

1838, Feb. 26: "he, your petitioner (Allen Vince) and the said William Vince in his life time having been equal partners. <HCPR- A-68>
1849, April 30: Allen Vince as administrator for William Vince filed claim that "sometime in the mouth of April A. D. 1836 he delivered for the use of the government of Texas to M. H. Bennett then acting as commissary of the same the receipt of which is hereby amended one wagon worth with its harness seventy dollars, two yoke of oxen worth one Hundred & Fifty dollars, & Four barrels of corn worth eighty dollars…" < Republic Claims, Reel 193, p. 0047, >

1860: out of the estate of Allen Vince Susan Vince (now Pratt) got all of the William Vince real estate.
