John was the third child and always had to live up to the reputation of his older brother and sister. He became the wild child. He had many friends and loved working on cars. His love of airplanes began when he worked for Trans Texas Airlines and took frequent flights. He gave his parents free tickets to travel around the world. Just ahead of being drafted he volunteered for the Army Aircorp and became a chopter pilot in Viet Nam. He was in charge of the furtherest north chopter maintenance facility in Viet Nam. After finishing his college degree at the University of Nebraska he and a friend went to Venzeuala to enjoy life. Upon his return to Texas he settled down with his wife Susie and lived on Galveston Bay. John loved to write, to create and to tell stories. He was very talented and was easily bored when he mastered a new job or new skill. His restless spirit always kept him looking for more. After the death of his younger brother Jim, John rediscovered the importance of family. He was always there when family decisions had to be made and at every holiday function. He became plagued with a series of ailments that probably resulted from his life style and Viet Nam experience. He fought to the end which came suddenly and without pain. He lived a full life in the brief time he was here. There will be a void for a long time.
